About the artwork
The artist uses a combination of both vivid and earthy tones to bring paintings of landscapes motion and liveliness through various mediums. In Kunming, China, the Stone Forest is most recognized for its extraordinary limestone formations across more than 500 km2. In this painting, Ang Ah Tee depicts the main entrance of this famous site. He captures the personality of this landscape through the use of semi-abstract lines and hues, accentuating the stone's roughness. Moreover, though the stone forests are rigid and still, the texture of the painting gives movement to the surroundings.
