About the artwork
Xie Ai Ge's inspiration for her newest series "菲马", which translates to non-horse or pseudo-horse, stemmed from her vision of portraying the mythical creature, the unicorn. The production of the sculptures coincided with the year of the horse, out of fortuitous chance, which the artist believes to be a predestined affinity. "我们的天空" is one of the artist's favourite pieces, which exudes warmth and love. A couple is depicted riding a unicorn, with the woman putting her arms around the man, lending against his back for support. With the unicorn and the two figures all facing forward, in a singular direction, the couple in love are growing in the same direction, sharing a common goal in life.
