On Thursday, June 11, 2020, Ode To Art hosted Miami-based artist Rainer Lagemann in a Facebook live session as part of this month’s “Inside the Creative Space With...” series. The session lasted just over an hour and included an intimate conversation with Rainer, a tour of his studio in Miami, featuring some of his most recent sculptures, as well as a slide show of some of his most notable public and private installation projects. The interview with Rainer touched on topics such as art and interior design, the background of the artist, his creative process and even what style of music he enjoys listening to while working.

While Rainer was talking about his background, how he started making art and his creative process, the viewers got to see his studio and his welding table.
Rainer’s sculptures are all molded after real-life models, like this piece of a pregnant lady created for a close friend of the artist during her pregnancy.
This piece, called “Dance” was one of the audience’s favorites: it depicts two figures intertwined in an elegant dance.
Rainer shared that to ensure the uniqueness of his climbers, he destroys the mold after completing the intended editions of each sculpture: in this way, he would never be able to recreate the same exact piece again.
Rainer believes that some sculptures belong with certain colors: in this case, red looks exquisite on this sensual female figure.
This floating sculpture suspended from the ceiling was another one of the audience’s favorites.
Rainer, intrigued by the idea of still lifes, produced a series of skull sculptures in various colors.
Rainer shared with the audience his view on art and interior design as a means of self-expression, and his own tips for choosing art.
Rainer talked about some of his most notable public and private projects, along with other interesting stories - such as his fear of heights!
At the end of the live, one lucky viewer won a very special prize: a heart-shaped sculpture made by Rainer.
